Technical and Biological Cycles
This short series of slides emphasises that in a circular economy there would be intentional design towards creating safe biological cycles for products and materials which are consumed – like food and perhaps packaging – and technical cycles for materials and products which are just used, but not used up. At present many materials are awkward mixes of the two and often end up as waste or reprocessed in a way that reduces quality – so called ‘downcycling’- rather than recycling.
