Ellen at the European Commission

June 21, 2012

On the 5th of June, Ellen travelled to Brussels where she took part in the launch of the European Resource Efficiency Platform, along with European Commissioner Janez Poto_nik, former Prime Minister of Ireland John Bruton and Jeremy Grantham, the co-founder of one of the largest asset management companies in the world. She reiterated the vision of a circular economy and its associated benefits, focusing on the opportunities such a model offers in an era of economic transition. Discussion will be focusing on the key resources, sectors and policy areas defined in the Roadmap to a resource-efficient Europe, with work organised around three key axes: - Circular economy / greening the economy - Setting objectives and measuring progress (namely looking into indicators and policy targets) - Framework conditions for investments in resource efficiency (How can we stimulate this and ensure the necessary financing?)
