No more petrol and diesel vehicles allowed in European city centres by 2050? The EU Commission’s objectives are bold but if they are met, it could mean that a turning point will have been reached. Is urban living as we know it about to change?
Quoted by the Independent, EU Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas said: “Curbing mobility is not an option; neither is business as usual. We can break the transport system’s dependence on oil without sacrificing its efficiency and compromising mobility. It can be win-win.”
