During a speech at the American Chemical Society’s 240th national meeting, Walter Kohn, Ph.D. (who shared the 1998 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and now teaches at the University of California, Santa Barbara) looked at the possible responses to the energy situation. “The most obvious”, he said, “is continuing scientific and technical progress providing abundant and affordable alternative energies, safe, clean and carbon-free,”
