Business Development Lead
Role at the Foundation
Markus leads the global Business Development of the CE100 network, responsible for new strategic partnerships with Businesses, Cities and Governments at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Prior to joining the Foundation, Markus has gained valuable experiences in the private, public and civil sector, working with the German Corporation for International Development (GIZ), various NGOs and the International Trade Centre, a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. Before working in the development cooperation landscape, Markus gained various insights while working in management consulting, investment banking and commodity trading in different countries across the globe; and therefore, speaks English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish fluently.
Markus holds a Master degree in International Management from the ESB Business School and ICADE, a Master in Sustainable Development from HEC Paris, and a MBA from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil. During leisure, Markus spends his time with his wife and two children between Geneva and Cowes, loves cooking Peruvian and Mediterranean cuisine and enjoys both, team sports such as basket, hand and volleyball and outdoor activities including triathlon, sailing, golf and skydiving.
