Advancing a circular economy is an important part of Dow’s 2025 Sustainability goals. However, Dow believes that building a circular economy is not something it can do alone. It will partner with other industry leaders, non-profit organisations and governments to deliver six major circular economy projects over the next ten years.
Dow scientists have developed breakthrough polymer chemistry that is the most advanced water purification science available today. DOW FILMTEC™ ECO Reverse osmosis elements deliver 40 percent better water purification while using 30 percent less energy offering ecological and economical value by increasing sustainability over time and reducing energy and chemicals.
Dow collaborated with Sustainable Packaging Coalition and Accredo Packaging to produce Seventh Generation’s first recyclable Dishwasher Pods packaging. The goal was to produce a recyclable package for Dow’s Dishwasher Pods, without sacrificing performance or aesthetics. The pouches can be recycled at 18,000+ store drop-off locations throughout North America.
Through innovation and collaboration, Dow aims to facilitate the world’s transition to a circular economy, where waste is designed into new products and services. Dow’s science and innovation expertise is key to developing scalable solutions that will close loops in a circular economy. Dow believes that a circular economy must be improved holistically, by looking at design, production, use and recovery phases as a single system that must be optimised to provide as many benefits to society as possible. Any opportunity that Dow has to provide environmental and economic benefits, by reducing waste and turning materials into resources is within scope for its efforts. The company takes expertise of redesign from operations to innovation and supply chain delivering solutions across diverse markets and value chains. As part of its 2025 Sustainability Goals through business activities, Dow is exploring total redesign and collaborative public and private partnerships across the entire enterprise.
