Plant Chicago supports small businesses to engage in circular practices. They facilitate research around the economic and environmental potential of closing waste loops at the local level, and run circular economy educational programmes for thousands of visitors each year.
Plant Chicago is:
- working with small businesses in Chicago to implement circular economy principles such as sourcing local nutrients, closing waste loops, sharing resources, and sharing in economic success that is equitable.
- partnering with local researchers to create white papers and forums on local circular economy systems.
- educating youth and the general public through hands-on activities that centre on recapturing and revaluing waste.
Plant Chicago is planning to start a small business 'food waste incubator' composed of new and existing businesses in the Chicago area.
Plant Chicago is also looking to support and partner with other non-profits and/or for-profit developers seeking to create location-based projects inspired by The Plant in cities other than Chicago.
