Recoup works across the supply chain to promote good practice, provide information, and aid the sustainable development of UK plastic recycling. It provides expertise, guidance and solutions to a wide range of clients and organisations. This includes a strong network of members and sponsors, which represents all parts of the plastic supply and recycling chain. The experience and depth of knowledge at Recoup is also underpinned and supported by the strength of its internal team and board. Recoup works with many other leading international plastics recycling organisations to ensure that it stimulates the implementation of latest best practices and developments worldwide.
With strong support from cross-sector members and other stakeholders, Recoup is dedicated to increasing the recycling of plastic, and driving change for a more sustainable future in today’s circular economy.
Recoup has delivered a number of projects over the past years and worked with members to drive behaviour change and increase the collection of plastics for recycling, for example working with Coca-Cola Enterprises to set up and deliver a recycling collection scheme at the 2013 Special Olympics Great Britain and the PRIME project which aimed to use mixed polymer waste to manufacture high value products such as flood defence systems.
One of the biggest challenges relating to plastic is that, due to being a very versatile and popular material, its wide- ranging applications and unique characteristics can also create potential issues to finding practical and cost effective recycling and circular solutions. However, by working in collaboration with the entire supply and recycling chain, many of these challenges can be overcome through better understanding and innovation. With resource security and green economies becoming leading discussions across Europe, plastic has the potential to be a truly sustainable and circular resource, and improved re-use and recycling will have a crucial role to play. Supported by its members, Recoup will continue to work on a range of relevant projects and be dedicated to increasing the recycling of plastic and driving change for a more sustainable future.
