The Group ranks as one of the largest companies in Europe. BAM has top market positions in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. BAM offers its clients various substantial packages of products and services in the home markets. The Group undertakes specialist construction and civil engineering projects in niche markets worldwide.
With around 23,000 employees, BAM is responsible for the implementation of thousands of projects every year. Some are spectacular (due to their size or technical complexity), but many others are more modest construction contracts.
Our Brummen Town Hall project is an example of a development designed with end of life in mind, bearing a legacy for the industry partners. The complete design was built using pre-selected (supply-chain) partners (co- makers) to construct the building perfectly and also to design it so that the components can be disassembled (in its unaltered state) and reused or returned to the proper owner, back to the supply chain or sold on to a new end user.
BAM didn’t want to compromise the quality of the building or its professional environment... the circular economy model provided the solution.
During its partnership with turntoo®, BAM was instrumental in developing a business model that treats buildings as commodity- banks. The producer remains the owner of its products: it is the performance that matters. Brummen has caught the attention of many entrepreneurs in the supply chain, and of designers and clients (both public and private) - particularly in The Netherlands and the UK. BAM has had the opportunity to introduce circular economy ideas back to the construction market and to lead discussions and forums on how to make the industry more circular by design.
BAM is an active participant in Life+ and Horizon 2020 EU funded programmes to further develop standards, guidance and demonstration projects to promote industry learning and exploitation. Other collaborations include WRAP, BSI, UK Contractors Group, Building Research Establishment and The Great Recovery, as well as clients and suppliers, to understand and develop circular economy solutions for the market.
