Part of The Biofore Company, which leads forest-based bioindustry, UPM Raflatac provides sustainable, new products that offer alternatives to non-renewable, fossil-based materials.
Labels appear on most things we consume. As one of the largest international labelling companies, UPM Raflatac knows the environmental aspects of its value chain, and to reduce detrimental impact, include circular economy initiatives as a core part of their business.
Through the choice of raw materials and applying circular solutions, success has been achieved with sustainable products such as recyclable labels, wash-off adhesives, recycled content labels, biobased films, and re-sealable labels to help mitigate food waste.
Through RafCycle®, UPM Raflatac offers recycling and waste solutions to customers and brand owners. The re-use of wood fibres back into paper products is a closed-loop solution. By-products from the value chain can be used as raw material for UPM ProFi® composite products. RafCycle® has over 100 partners today and has just been launched in China.
Today, UPM Raflatac is taking steps to create resource efficient, recyclable and biobased products that, they believe, are the blueprint for a circular future.
UPM Raflatac will also boost the RafCycle® programme by developing worldwide recycling solutions for label materials that include upcycling for recycled materials.
