Capacity building activities, including access to places on circular economy education programmes, equip members with the necessary skills and knowledge to become more effective in implementing circular practices.
The Executive Education Course provides an introduction to the circular economy: what it is, how it works, and the opportunities and barriers today or in the future. This online programme is run in partnership with the Bradford University School of Management and fuses expertise in practical business with economically sound knowledge. The course creates a network of like-minded individuals to share and explore ideas around the circular economy.
The course materials and presentation were definitely on par with my great expectations from this course. The scientific explanation of the circular economy was great, with discussion of feedback loops, throughput, interdependencies and externalities, and links to other topics that I am interested in, such as natural capital.’
The course is designed flexibly to allow global participation by modern business professionals. Just four hours study per week are required over a six week period, including a weekly one hour webinar. The webinars feature distinguished circular economy thinkers, and have recently included William McDonough, Walter Stahel and Ken Webster.
Expert input on topics such as Cradle to Cradle®, product life extension and systems thinking in the format of webinars, films, extension reading and illustrative business cases, together with an online forum to stimulate discussion, provide a well paced and flexible six week executive education experience.
e-Learning Tool for Business Leaders
Introduction to the Circular Economy e-Learning Programme
In response to requests from our CE100 member organisations, we have designed a scalable capacity building e-Learning tool geared towards middle managers to executive level roles. Its content specifically addresses the business benefits of a circular economy, while offering an introduction to the concept by delivering key messages in just a few short modules. The programme includes multiple case studies and tangible examples and is self-directed so learners can tailor it to their own time schedule.
The content is divided into five sections; an introductory overview module showcasing the value of a circular economy in just over 30 minutes, along with four 15 minute modules which address the functional business areas of R&D, Supply Chain and Procurement, Marketing, and Strategy and Finance.
The interactive and visually appealing programme has been created using an award-winning authoring tool and describes concepts using beautiful imagery, rich animations, audio narration and videos including a bespoke video message from Ellen MacArthur. Individual learner journeys can be tracked while challenge questions can earn achievement badges which serve as additional incentives for engagement.
