Catch up with the Big Food Workshop

July 09, 2020

In June this year, we hosted the Big Food Workshop, a three-day online event which welcomed city representatives, food industry executives, chefs, academics, and other industry thought leaders.

More than 34,000 people around the world have now watched the sessions which explore the vision of a circular economy for food, the benefits it can bring to the economy, environment, and society; and how it can help cities and businesses build back better following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bringing together a diverse group of international organisations and 17 guest speakers, the Big Food Workshop includes three courses: The City - sparking food system transformation, The Eatery - how food will be created and experienced in a circular economy, and The Meal - what will be on the plate and how will it go back to the land.

The message from the Big Food Workshop was clear: a circular economy for food is not a future aspiration, but very much something that is happening around the world now. More than ever, we face an urgent need to redesign food systems in ways that allow people, businesses and nature to thrive, while addressing global challenges such as climate change.Creating a circular economy for food can give us the tools to not only recover from the shocks of Covid-19, but to build back better.
