The Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Food initiative is welcoming the DOEN Foundation as its newest Philanthropic Partner. Based in the Netherlands, DOEN will support the initiative in its mission to stimulate a global shift towards a regenerative food system based on the principles of a circular economy.

Emma Chow, Ellen MacArthur Foundation Food initiative lead, said: “We are looking forward to working with DOEN to help drive innovations that can support the realisation of our vision of a circular economy for food. By transforming the global food system we have the opportunity to help tackle climate change and rebuild biodiversity, promote the livelihoods of farmers, improve human health, and reconnect people with their food, all while creating new business opportunities.”

Freija Vermeer, Programme manager at DOEN, said: “In order to feed a growing population sustainably and reduce the ecological impact, there must be a transition to a fair and sustainable food system. Almost two years ago DOEN started a programme to support pioneers that accelerate the transition towards sustainable food systems. We look forward to the partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Food Initiative, in particular to bring in the solutions of start-ups for the future circular food systems!”
