May 10, 2021

To celebrate the launch of the full Jeans Redesign collection this month, Ellen MacArthur Foundation Strategic Partner, People’s Postcode Lottery, has today launched a competition to win a pair of circular jeans produced by brands as part of the project.

Emf Jeans Prize Final

Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have long supported the Foundation’s commitment to circular economy transformation and recently awarded the Foundation £2million as part of their Postcode Climate Challenge. A further £18 million has also been awarded to 11 other charities tackling the issue. This funding allows the Foundation and its initiatives to further demonstrate the opportunities to tackle the biggest global challenges we face, such as climate change.

To celebrate the Jeans Redesign and thank players of People’s Postcode Lottery - without whom the project would not have been possible - the Foundation and People's Postcode lottery have launched a competition to win a pair of circular jeans. To enter, simply head to the People’s Postcode Lottery Facebook page to find the competition post, and tell us ‘one way that you and your family will help prevent your clothes from ending up as waste’.

The Jeans Redesign is a great example of how all clothing could be made from safe and renewable materials, and demonstrates the circular economy in action, at scale. To make this happen, businesses have worked together to change the system, and with continued support from the Players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation can work to further accelerate a transition across the global fashion industry. It’s a win for charity and a win for players.

- Laura Chow, Head of Charities - People's Postcode Lottery

Waste and disposability are woven into today’s economy fuelling climate change and pollution. Working in this collaborative way and using circular economy tools, has enabled us to rethink how we design, make, and use products. Put simply, we cannot fix our climate, unless we fix the economy, and we’re incredibly grateful support from players of People's Postcode Lottery is enabling us to do just that.

- Dame Ellen MacArthur, Founder - Ellen MacArthur Foundation

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time, and in a year which highlights awareness with events such as COP26, it sits at the top of global agendas. With ongoing support from Players of People’s Postcode Lottery, the Foundation is able to show how using the tools a circular economy gives us can tackle this and other important global issues.
