Nabil Nasr

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Nabil Nasr as a Trustee to Ellen MacArthur Foundation (USA), representing the North American region. As associate provost at Rochester Institute of Technology and founding director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS), he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Foundation. Working for almost 30 years in the fields of manufacturing, remanufacturing, clean production, and product development, Nabil has built a name for himself as an international leader in research and development efforts in those disciplines.

Having served as an expert delegate for the US government in several international forums — including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) — Nabil has developed key insights around the limits of the current global economy and the vast opportunities offered by circular economy thinking. He is also one of only three US members on the International Resource Panel of the UN’s Environment Programme.

Nabil has worked with the Foundation in the past, including as an academic expert on Towards The Circular Economy, and has collaborated with the team since then, using his knowledge and experience to help build the discussion around circular economy.

I am thrilled to have Nabil Nasr join us on the Board of Trustees at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (USA). His experience and insights have already proved invaluable to us, so we are very pleased to see him join the organisation in a more formal way. His expert knowledge, particularly in the area of remanufacture, will fuel many important discussions and help the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (USA) shape its thinking in the area.

- Dame Ellen MacArthur

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to the first publication on the circular economy in the early days of the Foundation’s establishment and I have continued to collaborate with the organisation ever since. I continue to be very impressed with what Ellen and her outstanding team have been able to achieve over the years and see the significant impact of their work. It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with this team in this new capacity.
