National Grid Supplier Design Awards

July 08, 2013

National Grid’s first Supplier Design Awards are to be held this evening at a ceremony in London. The awards will be presented by Dame Ellen MacArthur and Sir Peter Gershon, chairman of National Grid. The nationwide Supplier Design Competition challenged Founding Partner National Grid’s existing suppliers to develop an idea in line with a circular economy; to use intelligent design to cut out waste and retain resource value. The six shortlisted companies that have made it through to the final round are: Morrison Utility Services, Midal Cables, Atkins, Bunzl-Greenham, Balfour Beatty and Alstom. The shortlisted entries focus on recycling, reusing and extending the lifespan of equipment to maximise the value of the resources.
