The Netherlands is one of the first countries in Europe to take a keen interest in Cradle to Cradle principles. Interest in the circular economy has also been growing intensely over the past year as evidenced by the high number of Dutch members who have recently joined the Foundation’s Knowledge Transfer Network.
Over the past 18 months, the Foundation has built up some key business and academic relationships e.g. with companies who either have C2C expertise (Desso, Van Houtum, Van Gansewinkel) or are trialling innovative leasing-based business models (Turntoo), and with Louise Vet, a professor of Evolutionary Ecology, a director of the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW) and a pioneer of the circular economy.
This week sees an SCIPD (Scottish Continuing International Professional Development) study tour that the Foundation has organised in conjunction with Education Scotland which will visit both companies and a number of local schools who are starting to incorporate ideas for interdisciplinary learning and C2C principles.
