Role at the Foundation
Carsten is a Senior Policy Manager in the Institutions, Governments, and Cities team. Based in Brussels, he supports the development of circular economy policies at EU and international level, in close collaboration with the Foundation's systemic initiatives.
Background
Before joining the Foundation, Carsten worked for the European Investment Bank on Corporate Responsibility, engaging with Civil Society Organisations and other stakeholders on the EU Bank’s role in tackling climate and environmental challenges. Prior to that, he worked both for European and German NGOs as well as different management consultancies. His expertise covers a broad range of policy areas, including climate change, energy policy, natural capital, circular economy, urban development, demographic change and sustainable finance.
Carsten studied environmental science at the University of Lueneburg in Germany and participated in an international executive programme on Sustainable Business organised by the University of St. Gallen and Business School Lausanne in Switzerland. Outside work, he loves to travel and spend his time outside, be it for hiking, running, cycling, rowing, or swimming.
