These in-depth analyses have been conducted with the cooperation of four selected ‘focus cities’ to assess the transition to a circular economy for food in our urban centres. Each city represents a unique combination of demographics, landscape, and activities within and surrounding the city. The investigation looks at the potential for cities to be fed with food grown regeneratively (and locally where possible), preventing avoidable food waste, and creating value from by-products. Across all four focus cities, significant benefits can be achieved as a result of realising circular economy opportunities.

City Analysis Guide

The City Analysis Guide outlines the steps that our team took to carry out food system analysis with the four focus cities. This guide can serve as a tool for cities interested in conducting their own analysis, developing potential circular economy scenarios, and estimating the benefits that can be realised as a result.
