1. UQ's Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) is active in research related to the circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. and the mining/metals industries. SMI has a particular focus on opportunities to derive value from end-of-life products and industrial waste through projects such as the Wealth from Waste Cluster. The outcomes from this research will help increase the circular use of metals in the Australian economy.
2. The School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management also conduct related circular economy research across other industry sectors.
