The India Plastics Pact (IPP), launched in 2021, uniting businesses, NGOs, and citizens to create a circular plastics economy in India. It is the first Plastics Pact in Asia and is managed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with technical and strategic support from WRAP. 

By 2030, The India Plastics Pact aims to:

  1. Eliminate unnecessary or problematic plastic packaging through redesign and innovation.

  2. Ensure 100% of plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable

  3. Effectively recyclerecycleTransform a product or component into its basic materials or substances and reprocessing them into new materials. or compost 50% of plastic packaging 

  4. MaintainMaintainKeep a product in its existing state of quality, functionally and/or cosmetically, to guard against failure or decline. It is a practice that retains the highest value of a product by extending its use period. a 25% average recycled content across all plastic packaging
