The Foundation has launched a free circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. and climate change learning resource designed for 13 to 18-year-old students in Africa.
The Change for Climate resource is designed to inspire and mobilise young Africans around the concept of the circular economy — a new way to design, make, and use things that can help us address global challenges like climate change.
Filled with examples of real people making real changes in the way that we work and live, this resource highlights entrepreneurs and innovators shaping the future of Africa, using circular economy ideas and principles.
It includes an introduction to the circular economy and examples of the circular economy in action in Africa — showing how it eliminates waste and pollution, keeps products and materials in use, and regenerates nature.
There are two elements to the resource:
A one-hour lesson plan that can be used in the classroom
A design challenge for students to complete
All learners will receive a certificate of completion, and all designs submitted before 28th February 2023 will be reviewed by the Foundation’s learning team — with a prize for the winning entry! The chosen group or individual will win a one-to-one session with design consultant Ridwhana Shaik and the chance to showcase their design on our Circulate blog.
Change for Climate has been developed by the Foundation, in collaboration with the African Leadership University.
