The Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Fashion Initiative is delighted to be awarded the 2022 American Image Awards, Eco-Steward of the Year.
Taking place on April 26th and owned and operated by the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), the awards bring together a unique cross-section of influencers to celebrate creativity while drawing attention to public policy impacts on fashion and design.
The American Image Awards began in 1977 to honor those who have exemplified leadership, excellence, and outstanding achievement in all sectors of the apparel and footwear industry, including design, manufacturing, and retail.

“The American Image Awards has always been about excellence and achievement. The 2022 honorees are truly trailblazers who galvanize their employees and their peers across this industry’s far-reaching supply chains to ensure impactful contributions to the American and global economies, to our stakeholder community, and the future of fashion.”
— Steve Lamar, President and CEO of AAFA
Introduced to the programme in 2021, The Eco Steward of the Year award honors work on environmental sustainability from the C-Suite level, finding common ground in sustainability commitments across the industry to enhance further collaboration, and supporting brands and retailers across the spectrum of experience in their own sustainability journeys.
Proceeds from the evening award event will support the CFDA Foundation. Now in its 6th year, the collaboration between AAFA and the CFDA Foundation is investing in the future of the fashion industry through charitable and industry activities.
