Materials are all around us and in everything we use, but we are largely disconnected rom them and rarely think about or talk about them. Today, the making of materials is mostly the preserve of large scale production and corporations, but what if we could bake or print most of the materials we need using local sources and from the comfort of our own homes? Liz Corbin co-founded Materiom, a materials lab that is beginning to explore some of those questions, and joined Joe Iles at the DIF's Launch Party to explain why designers need to be reconnected with the materials that they use.
