Encouragement of voluntary actions: We have signed Clean Production Agreements with different company which committed voluntary for example to:
• Ensure that 100% of plastic packaging that is in contact with food has 50% of recycled plastic.
• Development of two pilot projects to reduce the consumption of plastic for the packaging of products in the lines of production.
• Reduce the amount of plastic in the bottles, by redesigning it.
• 100% of the packaging of certain products are made with at least 30% recycled plastic.
Promotion of collaboration with the private sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises, and civil society organisations: Ministry of Environment of Peru promotes small and medium-sized enterprises through the Catalogue of Eco-businesses and Bio-businesses, that currently has 108 enterprises distributed in 5 categories: Sustainable Fashion (28%), Resource Efficiency (30%), Cosmetics and well-being (4%), Ecotourism (6%) and Food (32%). From the total number of companies in the catalogue, 49% is led by women, 74% has a business plan, 69% has participated in a public or private contest, 63% works with communities.
Support for research and development of innovative solutions: The Clean Production Agreements with the private sector includes:
• Carry out a study with another type of plastic used in food, in order to improve the circularity of the material.
Other actions taken: Environmental Classroom
It is an initiative aims to bring girls, boys, adolescents, youth and adults closer to environmental issues, providing educational material in various formats and inviting them to be agents of change. https://aulaambiental.minam.gob.pe/
