Chief Executive Officer

Jonquil Hackenberg is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and an experienced leader with a proven track record of more than 20 years in business transformation, sustainability, and the circular economy. Before joining the Foundation in November 2024, Jonquil was the CEO of Eunomia Research & Consulting, a social-environmental consultancy and research house. There, she charted the company’s strategic direction, focused on circular, natural, and carbon economies, rooted in deep-seated policy and scientifically-sound expertise.

Nathan Allen

Chief AI and Innovation Officer

Nathan joins the Foundation’s Executive Leadership Team as its first Chief AI and Innovation Officer. Based in New York, Nathan comes from Google, where he served as Head of Global Sustainability Programs and Partnerships, leading work at the intersection of consumer products, circular design, and environmental impact. In his new role, he will spearhead the development of innovative solutions and strategic partnerships across each pillar of the Foundation's work.

Nathan brings more than 20 years’ experience spanning corporate and NGO strategy, innovation, policy development, and programme management. He previously held positions at the Clinton Foundation and Carbon War Room. Nathan is a current doctoral student at the University of Oxford where his research focuses on AI for Sustainable Urban Development and he completed his MBA focused in Sustainability at Yale University.

Joss Bleriot

Policy, China and Latin American Executive Lead

Jocelyn Blériot has been with the Foundation since its creation in 2010, after 15 years spent in the media and publishing industry. Initially in charge of editorial matters, overseeing content development and messaging, he leads the organisation’s institutional engagement and the work with national governments across the Foundation's offices (Europe, Latin America, China, North America). He manages the relationship with supra-national bodies such as the European Commission, United Nations, G7/20 Resource Alliance, OECD or the World Economic Forum. Jocelyn has been a member of the circular economy advisory board of the China Council for International Cooperation on Development (CCICED- SPS on Green Value Chains) and currently is a part of the international advisory network of the Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs (TESS).

Danielle Holly

Danielle Holly

North American Executive Lead

Danielle is a long time social sector executive who has spent her career scaling mission-oriented organizations, working closely with the private sector to effectively address social, environmental and climate issues. Currently, as Executive Lead, North America at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Danielle is focused on accelerating the circular economy and driving sustainable business practice in the US and Canada. Danielle had prior roles at the Aspen Institute's Business & Society Program and was the CEO of Common Impact, a nonprofit that pioneered corporate pro bono service, for more than a decade.

She is a frequent writer and speaker on the topics of entrepreneurship, corporate social innovation and leadership development. She's a contributing writer to the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Forbes and Nonprofit Quarterly.

Joe Murphy

Joe Murphy

Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

With over a decade of experience championing the circular economy as a driver of business value, Joe has collaborated with hundreds of leading global organisations, including Chanel, H&M, IDEO, IKEA, Jaguar Land Rover, Microsoft, alongside innovative startups and scaleups. Today, he leads strategy for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s business initiatives, advising companies and cross-sector coalitions on strategy, innovation, ecosystem development, and organisation transformation.

Joe’s background is in financial services, with expertise in commodities and e-commerce gained during his time at Ernst & Young and PayPal. Before joining the Foundation, he helped grow London’s social enterprise sector, empowering local innovators to create practical solutions to global challenges.

Emma Norton

Emma Norton

Finance Executive Lead

With more than 30 years’ financial expertise, Emma serves as the Executive Finance Lead, overseeing the Foundation’s global financial strategy and fiscal integrity. Having led the finance function for nearly a decade, Emma has been instrumental in navigating the charity through evolving regulatory landscapes, including the transition to SORP 2026, while ensuring multi-entity stability across the UK, North America, and Latin America.

Emma’s career began in private accounting practice, managing a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries — a period that forged a deep understanding of complex financial structures and risk management. This was followed by a tenure as Finance Manager in the manufacturing sector, where she honed a sharp focus on operational efficiency and lean financial systems.

She leverages this background to lead a high-performing finance team, integrating sophisticated systems and global consolidation tools to ensure that every pound, dollar, and real is maximised for impact.

Rob Opsomer

Rob Opsomer

Plastics Executive Lead

Rob works with businesses, governments, and NGOs to eliminate the plastics we don't need, and circulate the plastics we still use. Under Rob’s leadership, the Foundation has united over 1,000 organisations behind a common circular economy vision through its Global Commitment and Plastics Pacts network. Currently, Rob is focused on driving collaborative action and advocating for policy change towards the vision, including through the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty.  Before arriving at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Rob worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. A computer scientist by training, he also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Fiona Treharne

Chief Operating Officer

With more than 20 years' leadership and business transformation experience, Fiona was the inaugural COO at The Earthshot Prize, where she played a pivotal role in scaling it to become one of the world’s most prestigious environmental prizes, and served as a strategic consultant to The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales. Fiona worked at global law firms Allen & Overy, White & Case, and Freshfields, first as a practising lawyer and then in global leadership roles, and was the founder and CEO of the Renaissance Photography Prize — raising funds for the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care. She was awarded an MBE in 2018 for services to business and charity.

Critical Minerals Executive Lead

Wen-Yu leads the Foundation’s Critical Minerals Mission, aligning circular economy strategies with critical minerals essential to the energy and digital transitions, focusing on EV batteries, cleantech, mobility, consumer electronics, AI, and infrastructure. Before joining the Foundation, Wen-Yu worked globally across energy, resources, and sustainability, having successfully worked with, advised, and collaborated with industries, investors, governments and innovators to catalyse systems-level change, innovative financing, and robust market design.

Laura Winn

General Counsel and Company Secretary

An experienced strategic leader with significant experience building and leading high performing teams to deliver timely, practical, risk-based advice, Laura brings more than a decade of senior experience to her role shaping legal, risk, and global governance frameworks as General Counsel & Company Secretary. Laura previously led legal services at Imperial College London's Advancement Division, supporting a £90m annual income portfolio, international fundraising, and impact initiatives. She shaped and led WWF UK's Legal & Compliance function, supporting the Board, Chief Executive, operations, and global initiatives as a critical part of the world's largest independent conservation network. Laura has a proven track record in delivering against business objectives and leading value-add initiatives, including devising and delivering frameworks and implementing new compliance and operational mechanisms. Skilled in strategic leadership and corporate governance at complex international organisations, Laura is passionate about enabling non-profit and purpose-led organisations to deliver against their missions and driving governance best practice.
