More than a third of all food is wasted. It's tough to stomach statistics in a context where so many people are short of food or suffer from malnutrition. Food waste campaigner Tristram Stuart is focused on creating positive solutions that tackle parts of the issue and draw attention to the problem, including Toast Ale - a beer brewed from bread. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Mesopotamians, who used waste bread to create the first ever beer. Stuart joined the Foundation's Seb Egerton-Read at Summit 2019 to talk about how such a simple idea can create a compelling story.
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation works to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. We develop and promote the idea of a circular economy, and work with business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally.
