Experience the barriers, setbacks, and breakthrough moments as participants of the Big Food Redesign Challenge race to create products that put nature first. Watch as participants navigate the complexities of designing food for nature to thrive, push the boundaries of food design, and turn obstacles into opportunities for growth and innovation.

The Challenge brings together ambitious producers, retailers, start-ups, and suppliers to design new food products – or redesign existing ones – to regenerate nature. Currently in the Production Phase of the Challenge, participants are working hard to turn their product designs into a reality.

From cactus cookies to regenerative mushrooms, the pathway to a food system designed for nature to thrive isn’t straightforward, but it’s one of the most powerful things we can do to tackle climate change and build biodiversity.

By applying the principles of the circular economy across all dimensions of food design – from product concept, through ingredient selection and sourcing, to packaging – we can unlock substantial environmental, economic, and yield benefits.

Through this series, we go behind the scenes to explore the path to redesigning food that puts nature first.
